Position Summary
The Creative Communications Coordinator will create graphic designs and other creative materials for Native Movement key programs and campaigns. The core purpose of the position is in the creation of digital and print design with social media and e-newsletter coordinationThis position will also play a lead role in the Native Movement social media management in collaboration with other communications staff. The individual in this role will have a high level of creativity and graphic design experience to assist in the creation and publishing of engaging outreach and educational materials, experimenting with new social media tools and innovations as they emerge. This position will engage in collaborative work models regularly.
Essential Job Functions:
● Work closely with NM staff as needed to design and create engaging outreach and educational materials online and in print.
● Coordinate and publish daily social media content and weekly e-mail newsletter.
● Maintain a photo library and other art, assets, and collateral materials.
● Make content edits and updates on nativemovement.org and adjacent websites as needed.
● Participate in various weekly campaign and team meetings to track graphic design requests and collaborate on creative and impactful digital campaigns.
● Track and publish a monthly Calendar of events for both Fairbanks and Anchorage offices
● Responsible for proofing and printing with third party printers as needed
● Collaborate on the layout and design for Native Movement merchandise as needed
● Report back weekly on digital outreach performance from available data and insights
Non-Essential Job Functions
Some travel for team meetings and other job related projects

Supervision Received and Exercised
This position reports directly to the Communications Co-Director. No supervision exercised.
Location
This position is preferred to be located in Fairbanks or Anchorage, Alaska however able to work remotely within Alaska but must have the ability to access the internet and have adequate phone reception. Office space available at our Anchorage or Fairbanks locations.
Work Environment and Demands of the Role

Generally, the office environment is calm, with some days of higher activity due to organizational events. Some noise from people in the office is expected, and may increase during events. This position may require travel within the state. Possibility of a flexible schedule and may need to be available for evenings and/or weekends..
The physical demands of this position require the ability to occasionally remain in a stationary position, move or traverse throughout an office and event spaces. Occasionally must be able to transport objects through the office for various needs. Must be able to commute to and from an office and event space. Requires the ability to ascend a flight of stairs, several times a day. Additionally, the employee must be able to exchange information and ideas so that others will understand, receive and understand instructions, readily recall facts and details, and exercise independent judgment.

Job requirements
Job Qualifications
● Proficient in graphic design fundamentals, typography, print, and web design.
● Proficiency in Adobe creative suite, as well as Canva and/or other graphic design software.
● Knowledge of design accessibility and cultural representation across digital and print media.
● Experience with strategic social media campaigns preferred.
● Compelling portfolio of work over a wide range of creative projects.
● Real and authentic understanding of Alaska Native ways of life highly preferred (we do not expect anyone to be an expert on all tribes or diversities of ways of life).
● Significant experience working with Alaska Native and/or Indigenous communities both rural and urban preferred (i.e. cultural practices, potlatches, ceremony).
● Excellent eye for detail and written communication skills.
● Self-starter who shows initiative and is eager to advance NM's work.
● Strong work ethic and ability to multitask.
● Ability to work extremely well as part of a team with strong interpersonal skills.
● Detail-oriented and extremely well-organized.
● Strong time-management skills, with the ability to meet goals and deadlines while working independently.

Additional Job Information
This position requires regular attendance in accordance with the established schedule as this is the most common time to conduct business with customers, vendors and employees. Some work outside of regular hours may be required, such as emergency response to properties (fire, law enforcement, etc). Employees must also possess the following abilities:
